The names refer to the 12 constellations that are directly overhead when viewed from the equator during each month.
In a leap-year, Pisces has 30 days, the same as the Julian calendar.
Although this is the modern arrangement of the Zodiac astrological calendar, this may have been modified or simplified since first used by the Greeks and Romans, and later European cultures to align it with the Gregorian calendar.
